How It All Started

It began with a missed bus.

One ordinary morning, four friends — Jordan, Maya, Theo, and Priya — ran to their school bus stop only to watch it pull away without them. Catching their breath on the bench, they heard something. Beneath it, wrapped in a torn plastic bag, was a tiny grey kitten. Eyes barely open. Cold. Shaking.

They didn't leave her there.

Jordan gave her his jacket. Maya called the nearest vet. Theo flagged a ride. Priya held her the whole way, whispering that she was going to be okay.

They named her Bus. Because of course they did.

Bus spent three weeks recovering before finding a forever home. But the four friends couldn't stop thinking about what the vet told them that day: shelters were full, resources were stretched, and hundreds of animals like Bus fell through the cracks every single day.

So they built something to fix that.

"What if rescue wasn't a place? What if it was a promise?"

A New Kind of Rescue

Pets Sanctuary was built on a simple but powerful idea: you don't need a building to save lives. You need a network.

We are a fully remote organisation. Our founders, our team, our coordinators — everyone works remotely, connected by a shared mission rather than a shared office. And our rescued animals don't wait in a single overcrowded shelter. From the moment they are rescued, they go directly into the care of one of our 500+ personally vetted partner shelters and rescue homes — organisations we have hand-selected for their standards, compassion, and commitment.

Our 200+ veterinary partners provide medical care wherever each animal is placed. Our rehabilitation specialists work remotely and in the field to run structured recovery programmes for every animal in our care. And when an animal is ready, our adoption and fostering team matches them with the right family.

We are funded entirely by the generosity of our donors. No government grants. No corporate subsidies. Just people who believe, like we do, that every animal deserves a second chance.
